THE WORLD NEEDS YOU
Do you believe that because you have more money or time than you need, that you areentitled to spend your life doing things that only serve your own interests? I'm talking about those milliond out there who have conquered the U.S financial jungle. Those who can now live the American dream focusing on a foot loose and fancy free life devoted only to personal pleaseures? Do you think that because you worked hard, were smart, lucky, or born right that you do not owe the rest of the world anything in in return?. You think that donations or service to worthy organizations, or people are not your responsibility?
WRONG!!
It is not a matter of whether you are young or older., If you have gained financial freedom or retired and are able to afford some time and money than it is your duty and obligation to do what you can for others. As they say " you are never too old or too busy to take out the garbage".
Otherwise, you are merely taking up space. Like me. I have always been plain lucky. So, everyday I wake up and I at leaast walk the dog. Then, I usually go play pickleball or golf in my very nice over 55 community. I could do so much more. So, I am a privledged bum.
I should be devoting my time and resources to any of the countless places and people who need me.. Hospitals, charites, mental health facillities, coaching , serving meals at the salvation army, running errands for those that cannot cannot run anymore, talking to people who are lonely and on and on it goes. Check out areas of your interest just by Googling and you will see how badly the world needss you. There are thousands and thousands of good things you can do. Or, you can write affordable checks to worthy causes. That works.. .
I could donate much more than I do. I always rationalize and excuse my laziness and unwillingness to give of mysel or moneyf byactinglike I am too busy. With what? I act like I have more important things to do than walk someone elses dog. The truth is I live a bpgus and unproductive existence.
I am a total hypocrite..I know what I should do daily or weekly for others but it's too easy to play the rolee of a privledged good for nothing likee too many others. I figure that being retired entitles me to a life of uselessness. Writing this appeal to you makes me feel better. Maybe my words will matter to someone.
Is selfishness why so many of us (not all) who are retired do little or nothing beyond perp;etually staying buried in our smart phones and playing games? The inspiration to write thais article mayt perform a miracle.? Hopefully,it will inspire someone to get involved in something unselfish..
Hear me hear me one individual out there who can but does not do anything charitable or worthwhile for others. You can at least think about this.
.Every hand is a helping hand and every dollar is a helping dollar.
